FIX: Remote desktop authentication error on Windows 10

An authentication error pop may be displayed on your screens sometimes when you’re trying to connect to the other PC using a desktop connection remote application. Here is how you can fix that error.

3 ways to fix the remote desktop authentication error:

Adjust the remote desktop settings:

  • Press Windows key + R key
  • The RUN dialogue box will appear
  • Type sysdm. cpl in the box and click ok
  • Now choose the remote tab
  • Uncheck the recommended option on the remote tab
  • Now press Apply and click ok to save changes

Enable encryption oracle remediation:

  • Press Windows key + R key
  • The RUN dialogue box will appear
  • Type gpedit.msc in the box
  • Click on computer configuration
  • Then choose Administrative Templates > System > Credentials Delegation
  • Next up, click on encryption oracle remediation
  • Now enable the radio button
  • Then run the command prompt and type in the following command:

gpupdate /force

  • Let the command run, then restart your PC

Modify the registry:

  • Press Windows key + R key
  • The RUN dialogue box will appear
  • Type Regedit in the dialogue box and click OK
  • Then head over to the location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystemCredSSPParameters
  • Double click AllowEncryptionOracle DWORD
  • Then set the value 2 and press Ok
