CutePDF Writer is a compact application that installs itself as a virtual printer. It is installed as printer subsystem and can be found in printer folder. It is integrated in printers list in all applications that are able to print. You may be thinking that what’s useful about that virtual printer?

Well, it obviously doesn’t perform anything physically but saves your document and pictures in PDF format. You have to select print from any application that is capable to print and select ‘CutePDF Writer’ from printer selection menu or list. Click ‘Print’ and you will be asked for a location where you want to save it as a PDF file. There is further configuration available. You just have to save file and it will be saved as PDF file.

It doesn’t offer additional options like protecting document etc. as other professional PDF software offer because it is a part of professional version. Usage is quite simple and easy. You just decide to open the file you want to convert to PDF format. Open the file, make changes if needed. Go to print menu or press CTRL+P form keyboard. The print dialog will appear. In the list of available printer to choose from, select CutePDF Writer. Don’t worry, nothing will happen to your printer, if you have any; or if you don’t have any printer, then no risks should arise at all. Go ahead with print, a save dialog box will appear and prompts to enter a file name. This file will be a PDF converted copy of currently open file. Type file name and press ‘Save’. Now navigate to that folder and you will see a PDF version of file.
