On November 12, Microsoft released its eighth major rebuild or update in Windows 10. Windows 10 gets smaller routine updates throughout the year but this update is one of the two major annual overhauls. The updated version of Windows10, window10 1909, codenamed 19H2, is finally available for the public.
Unlike the previous release, Windows 10 version1909 includes new features and improvements.

Updates in Start Manu
Windows 10 version 1909 has a more user-friendly Start menu. Hovering over the start menu expands it automatically to show what you are about to click on. For example, the Settings, Power, and Documents icons. With these new features, it’s easier to understand what all these icons do.
Improved notification management
Now, with this updated features Windows 10 version 1909 lets you disable the sounds that play when a notification appears. There are images that show exactly what “notification banners” and ” notification in action center” are. It also has a “Manage Notification” button at the top of the Action Center. This offers easy access to the Notification & Actions for configuring your notifications.
Improved Battery life
For devices with certain processors, Windows 10 version 1909 has improved battery life and power efficiency.
File explorer
In this update release, Windows 10 version 1909 has a new search experience in file explorer. By typing in the search box, you will see a drop-down many having lists of suggested files. It has access to search files from your OneDrive account online.
This feature was initially added to Windows 10’s 20H1 update but they moved to the 19H2 update.
Desktop Analytics
Desktop analytics is a cloud-connected service and is now available globally. Desktop analytics is integrated with the configuration manager, which provides several useful information so you can make better decisions about the update readiness of your Windows endpoints. Desktop analytics requires a Window E3 or E5 license, or a Microsoft 365 E3 or E5 license.
Improved Calendar Application:
Windows 10 version1909 calendar application is easier to start. Users can now create an event directly from the calendar flyout in the taskbar. Before this feature, the user had to create these events in the calendar app. Here’s how a new event can create:
- In the taskbar click on date/time to open the quick easy calendar view.
- To add an event click on a date, and a quick creation tool will enable you to add a name, time, location, and label of event.
Digital Assistant:
On the Lock screen, by using your voice you can easily activate the third-party AI digital assistant
Accessibility
To read and learn about the FN key (where It locates in keyboard and what state it is in) Windows10 version 1909 adds the ability for Narrator and other assistive technologies.
Favored CPU Core Optimization
In order to increase the performance and reliability of the operating system, Windows10 version 1909 includes optimizations to how instructions are processed by the CPU.
In CPU manufacturing, all cores are not created equal. To get a boost in performance, some of the cores may have slightly different voltage and power characteristics. These cores can offer better performance than the other cores on the die, these are called “favored cores”.
Other improvements:
- For more responsive drawing, computers with digital inking features will see lower latency. Windows 10 version 1909 let manufacturers reduce the linking latency based on the hardware capabilities of their devices.
