Microsoft Windows 2000 (aka Windows 2k) released on February 17, 2000. It released after Windows 98 SE and before Windows ME, but not based on MS-DOS. The UI of Win 2000 looks like Windows ME (Millennium Edition), but the core technology is not same.

Win2000 looks clean and simply solid in design. But actually it was over simplified with boring icons.

It was famous for its strict security. That is why it was used by banks, governments departments and other institutions where security was first priority.

Being honest, Win2000 was not a pleasant release. Its interface and graphics were so boring. The boot time took much time as compared to Windows 98. However, it was more stable.

The official support of Windows 2000 ended in 2010.
