Microsoft shipped Windows 10 version 1909 (19H2 / November 2019 Update) on 12 November 2019. It arrived a few months after version 1903 and was delivered mostly as a lightweight enablement package rather than a full feature overhaul.
Windows 10 1909 – November 2019
Because 1909 was built on top of the May 2019 Update, most of the big interface changes users remember from that period actually came from 1903. Version 1909 itself concentrated on stability, a handful of practical tweaks, and making the upgrade process smoother.
What 1909 actually added
Notable improvements that arrived with this release:
- Faster and more reliable Windows Update experience
- Better notification management (ability to turn off notifications from specific apps more easily)
- Minor Start menu and search refinements
- Improved performance when rotating the screen on 2-in-1 devices
- Several under-the-hood reliability and security fixes
The more visible changes — separate Search and Cortana, the lighter Start menu look, new system icons, and expanded app uninstall options — had already shipped in version 1903 a few months earlier.

- Enterprise – volume-licensed, extra management features
- Education – for schools and universities
No Ultimate edition exists for Windows 10.

These are the original 1909 images. If you simply need a still-supported Windows 10 install, the final release (version 22H2) is the better option.
Installing it
Burn the ISO to a USB stick with Rufus or the Media Creation Tool, boot from the drive, and choose either an upgrade or a clean installation. Once Windows is running, check for any remaining cumulative updates that were still published for 1909.
Mounting the ISO and running setup.exe also works for an in-place upgrade.
Things worth knowing
- Windows 10 reached end of support on 14 October 2025. 1909 stopped receiving regular updates long before that date.
- A genuine product key that matches the edition is required for activation.
- For any new installation in 2026, prefer 22H2 over older feature updates.
