Adobe Prelude is discontinued. It left Adobe.com on 8 September 2021. Technical support ended 8 September 2024. Adobe’s current FAQ: not available on Adobe.com, no technical support, existing installs may still open, move ingest and logging to Premiere and transcode in Media Encoder. “Prelude 2026 full” is not a new product.

Prelude was the ingest / logging app in front of Premiere. As of 1 September 2026 there is no official installer to fetch. If Prelude is already on the disk, treat it as unsupported leftover.

There is no extra unlocked setup and no 2026 SKU.

• Ingest camera cards in Premiere
• Use markers for basic logging
• Send heavy transcodes to Media Encoder

A “Prelude 2022 pre-activated” folder plus an amtlib patch is stolen licensing. Grey-market keys will not bring Adobe support back.

Your Adobe Prelude download will not start on Adobe.com

Creative Cloud will not sell you a new Prelude seat. Community answers in 2026: the download is gone.

What to do next

1. Install Premiere from Creative Cloud.
2. Ingest the card in Premiere (Media Browser / ingest settings).
3. Mark clips there.
4. Queue encodes in Adobe Media Encoder.
5. If an old PC still has Prelude, export / copy project notes, then stop depending on it.

Do not take a 1 GB “Prelude ISO” from a forum.

Already installed? Adobe says it may still launch. There is no patch train and no phone support. Do not format that box until the logging notes are out.

Windows may warn you. Check the publisher.

• Publisher should read Adobe if a leftover official build is already on the machine.
• Any “Prelude 2026” EXE from a file host — cancel.
• Do not turn off Defender to “restore logging.”
• Do not install Flash-era helpers next to it.

Trial and subscription

You cannot buy Prelude. Premiere is the paid/trial path.

A $10 “Prelude lifetime 2026” key is not Adobe.

Will it run on this PC?

Only if Prelude is already installed. New Windows 11 feature updates can break an unsupported 2021-era app. Do not plan a new ingest station on it.

Already installed? Copy markers / notes out. Move the workflow to Premiere this week, not “after the next Prelude update.” There will not be one.

Last export from Adobe Prelude (if it still opens)

1. Open the old project.
2. Note subclips and markers.
3. Copy media paths you still need.
4. Recreate ingest in Premiere.
5. Uninstall Prelude when Premiere owns the job.

If Prelude will not install

• Not in CC — expected since 2021.
• New PC — use Premiere.
• 40 MB Prelude_Unlocked — leave.

Why this page still exists

• People still search “download Prelude”
• A few machines still have the 2018–2021 build
• Adobe’s replacement is Premiere ingest + Media Encoder

No. Unsupported leftover is not a licence grant.

Prelude is the dead ingest app. Premiere is the live editor.

Only a leftover Adobe install you already had. Forum “Prelude 2026 full” files are the risk.
