WinRAR 7.23 for Windows Free Download

There is no official product called WinRAR PRO. The real product is WinRAR from RARLAB / win.rar GmbH: one installer, a 40-day trial, then a perpetual licence. Sites selling “WinRAR Pro.exe” are usually not the publisher. This article is written as that single download page — official file first, everything else after.

If you searched for “WinRAR PRO”

WinRAR does not ship a separate Pro edition. There is one Windows programme.

• You download the official installer.
• You can use every feature for 40 days.
• A licence key turns that same install into a licensed copy. The licence is perpetual: buy once, keep using it, including later 7.x updates from the same publisher.

A file named WinRAR_Pro_Setup.exe, a keygen, or a “pre-activated Pro” pack is not from RARLAB. Close that page.

Your download should start from the official site

If the browser does not start it, use the English 64-bit link on the publisher’s download page and save the file again.

What to do next

1. Open winrar-x64-723.exe from your Downloads folder.
2. If Windows asks, choose Yes. The publisher name should read win.rar GmbH or Alexander Roshal / RARLAB.
3. Finish setup, then right-click a .zip or .rar file to confirm it is installed.

The file usually lands in C:\Users\You\Downloads.
Setup installs for the current PC. You do not need to stay online after the installer has saved.

Windows may warn you. That can be normal.

A short, signed installer from a small publisher sometimes trips SmartScreen, especially the first days after a release.

• If you see Windows protected your PC, open More info and confirm the publisher. Then run only if the name matches the official publisher.
• Do not turn off antivirus to “make Pro work.”
• Do not run a second helper called Download Manager, Crack, or Activator.

Pick the right Windows file

One recommended file. The rest are language or platform variants, not a higher-tier product.

There is no official MSI on the public download page, and the current public Windows list is 64-bit. If you are on an older 32-bit PC, check the publisher’s archive pages rather than a random “Pro x86” site.

Stub vs full: this installer is the whole programme. It is already small. You do not need a second “offline Pro pack.”

Will it run on this PC?

• Disk: a few megabytes for the app; more if you build large archives
• Admin: needed if you want Explorer right-click integration for all users
• Already installed? Installing 7.23 over an older WinRAR updates it. A genuine licence file is kept.

Windows 11 can extract some archives on its own. You still want WinRAR if you need to create RAR files, encrypt them, split them, or repair a damaged archive.

Install, first run, and the trial nag

Install path (typical): C:\Program Files\WinRAR

During setup you can choose which archive types WinRAR should own. You can leave the defaults and change this later.

First run

• Open an archive, or right-click files → Add to archive.
• After 40 days, WinRAR reminds you to buy a licence. That reminder is the product working as licensed software, not a broken install.
• Buying a key does not require a second download. You register the copy you already have.

Uninstall: Settings → Apps → WinRAR → Uninstall.

If it did not work

• Download never started — use the official page, not a pop-up button on an ad page.
• File is a few kilobytes or zero — you did not get the real installer.
• SmartScreen blocked it — check the signature, then decide.
• “Another installation is in progress” — wait, or restart Windows and run the same official file again.

Why people still install it

WinRAR is the Windows front end for the RAR format. It also opens the files you already have.

• Create RAR and ZIP archives, including split volumes for email or USB.
• Open RAR, ZIP, 7z, ISO, TAR and a long list of older formats.
• AES-256 passwords on archives you need to send or store.
• Recovery records so a damaged download has a chance of being repaired.

It is not free software. The honest path is trial, then a licence from the official shop if you keep it. List price for one PC is commonly about $29 before VAT and promotions. Some official shop links run lower for a time. It is a one-time purchase, not a monthly plan.

Questions before you trust the .exe

Is this the official file?
Yes, if it comes from win-rar.com or rarlab.com, the name is winrar-x64-723.exe, and the SHA-256 matches.

Is WinRAR PRO a different download?
No. “Pro” in search results usually means “I want the full licensed product.” That is this installer plus a key from the official shop.

64-bit or ARM64?
Use the official 64-bit Windows build for a normal Intel or AMD PC. WinRAR runs under emulation on Windows 11 on ARM. Prefer the publisher’s own page if you need a specific ARM build rather than a third-party “Pro ARM” file.

Does the trial include every feature?
Yes, for 40 days. The licence removes the reminder. It does not unlock a hidden Pro engine.

Will it change my default zip handler?
Only if you let it during setup. You can tick or untick file types.

Does the installer add toolbars or other apps?
The official installer should not. If a page offers a “fast downloader” first, leave.

Can I use it at work?
Yes, with the right number of licences. Multi-user pricing is on the official buy pages. Do not share one home key across a company.

Where are other languages?
Same version, different filename, on the official download list. More than 40 languages.

Where are older versions?
Only if you have a real compatibility reason. For a current PC, use 7.23. Older branches miss security fixes.
