AutoCAD Mechanical (ACM) is Autodesk’s mechanical-drafting flavour of AutoCAD: standards parts, balloons, parts lists, hidden edges. Current year is 2027. It is not Inventor and not AutoCAD LT. “Mechanical full” is a subscription or the Mechanical toolset on AutoCAD — not a cracked ISO.

ACM sits on the AutoCAD engine with mechanical structure and content libraries. You either install AutoCAD Mechanical 2027 as its own product, or you install AutoCAD 2027 and switch to the Mechanical toolset. Both come from an Autodesk account.

There is no extra unlocked setup.

• Sign in with the Autodesk ID that owns ACM, AutoCAD (with toolsets) or the Product Design Collection
• Click Install
• Sign in again when the product opens
• Switch to the Mechanical toolset if you installed AutoCAD

A “permanent ACM 2027” folder plus a FlexLM patch is stolen licensing. Autodesk products check the account.

ACM vs Mechanical toolset vs Inventor

LT does not include the Mechanical toolset. Content libraries and AMSHIDE / AMPARTLIST are why this product exists.

If nothing saves, you opened Inventor or AutoCAD Electrical by mistake.

What to do next

1. Sign in at manage.autodesk.com.
2. Open All products and services.
3. Choose AutoCAD Mechanical (standalone) or AutoCAD (then use the Mechanical toolset).
4. Pick 2027 → Install or Download / Direct download.
5. Run the Autodesk installer. Stay online until it can sign in.
6. Open Autodesk Access and install both AutoCAD updates and Mechanical updates.

Typical folder: C:\Users\You\Downloads.
App path: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2027 with Mechanical toolset files.

Custom / deployment images are an admin job. Do not take a 10 GB “full ISO” from a forum thread.

Windows may warn you. Check the publisher.

• Publisher should read Autodesk.
• SmartScreen can appear on a new Autodesk setup. Use More info only if the signature is Autodesk.
• Do not turn off Defender to “activate.”
• Do not replace licensing DLLs.

Help → About should show AutoCAD Mechanical 2027 or AutoCAD 2027 plus the Mechanical toolset.
AutoCAD updates and Mechanical updates are separate. Install both.

Standard-part libraries install with the toolset. A pirate “complete DIN/ISO pack” is not Autodesk.

Trial and subscription

ACM / AutoCAD is a subscription. A trial is the official look. Cancel in the Autodesk account if you only wanted the trial.

Education seats follow Autodesk Education rules. A $35 “2027 lifetime Mechanical” key is not Autodesk.

Will it run on this PC?

2027 official floor matches AutoCAD 2027: 64-bit Windows 11. Autodesk does not list Windows 10 for 2027. Stay on 2026 if you cannot leave Windows 10. Mechanical adds disk and RAM on top of vanilla AutoCAD.

Already installed? Use manage.autodesk.com or Autodesk Access. You do not download a second “full 2027.”

Install, first run, and the Mechanical workspace

First run

1. Open AutoCAD Mechanical 2027, or AutoCAD 2027 → Mechanical toolset.
2. Sign in with the same Autodesk ID.
3. Confirm AM commands, content library, balloons and parts lists — not just LINE.
4. Open a sample mechanical drawing before the live assembly layout.
5. Check Help → About.

Uninstall: Settings → Apps, or Autodesk Uninstall. Close drawings first. Removing a toolset update may mean uninstall/reinstall of that toolset.

If it did not work

• Only vanilla AutoCAD menus — you installed LT, or never switched toolset.
• Product missing on the account — this ID never had ACM or AutoCAD.
• License error — fake key or seat already burned.
• Crash on content library / xref — apply official 2027 Mechanical updates (Autodesk published library and xref fixes).
• Installer is 80 MB named Full_Activated — leave.
• Windows 10 + 2027 — unsupported. Use 2026 or move to Windows 11.

Why shops still install ACM

• 2D mechanical drawings with intelligent parts
• DIN / ISO / ANSI content and symbols
• Structure, hide situations, balloons and parts lists

It is not an Inventor replacement. 3D models belong in Inventor or Fusion.

Is this the official file?
Yes if it came from manage.autodesk.com and the publisher is Autodesk.

Is ACM free?
No. Education has its own rules. The trial is time-limited.

Do I install ACM and AutoCAD both?
Only if the account lists both. Most AutoCAD subscribers just enable the Mechanical toolset.

ACM vs Inventor?
ACM is AutoCAD with mechanical drafting tools. Inventor is 3D parametric CAD.

Safe?
Official account installer. The usual risk is fake “Mechanical full” sites.

After you have the file

Install from Autodesk. Sign in. Apply both AutoCAD and Mechanical updates. Pay or use the work/education seat.
