Windows 11 version 24H2 is gearing up to be a significant update for Windows users. Here’s what you need to know:
1. Expected Release Date
The next major update, Windows 11 version 24H2, is anticipated to roll out in September or October of 2024 once it reaches general availability (GA). If you’re eager to try it out, you can already install the Release Preview build of Windows 11 version 24H2 (Build 26100.712 or later). Additionally, some next-gen Copilot+ PCs with powerful ARM-based Snapdragon X Elite chipsets will start shipping after June 18, 2024.
2. Rumored System Requirements
While the system requirements for Windows 11 version 24H2 remain largely unchanged, there’s a new addition. You’ll now need a CPU that supports the “POPCNT” instruction (Population Count). Fortunately, CPUs released after 2010 already come with this instruction, so most users should be safe from the new CPU cut-off. Other requirements, such as TPM 2.0, 4GB+ RAM, Secure Boot, and Intel/AMD CPUs released after 2018, still apply for the 24H2 version.
3. Exciting Features
Several exciting features are expected in Windows 11 24H2:
- Recall (Copilot+ PC Exclusive): Announced at the MS Build 2024 event, this brand-new AI feature (also known as AI Explorer internally) promises enhanced productivity and convenience.
- Cocreator in Paint: A new feature that aims to enhance creativity and collaboration within the Paint app.
- AI Super Resolution: Improved image quality using AI algorithms.
- AI Voice Clarity: Enhanced audio clarity during calls and meetings.
Stay tuned for more updates as Windows 11 version 24H2 approaches its release date!
