A version's build number never changes; the revision after the dot rises with each cumulative update. Version 1607 shares build 14393 with Windows Server 2016, and 1809 shares build 17763 with Windows Server 2019. 1809 was first released on 2018-10-02 and re-released on 2018-11-13.

LTSB and LTSC editions

Long-term servicing editions follow their own lifecycle and skip feature updates. LTSB was renamed LTSC with the 2019 release.

Enterprise LTSC 2021 has no extended support period. Only IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 is supported until 2032-01-13.

Extended Security Updates (ESU)

ESU gives eligible Windows 10 22H2 PCs critical and important security updates after end of support. It does not include feature updates, other fixes or technical support.

  • Consumer ESU (Home, Pro, Pro Education, Pro for Workstations) runs through 2027-10-12. Microsoft extended it on 2026-06-25; the original end date was 2026-10-13, which some older pages and articles still show.
  • Ways to enroll: sync your PC settings to a Microsoft account (no cost), redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points, or pay a one-time $30 USD. One license covers up to 10 devices.
  • To enroll: open Settings, Update & Security, Windows Update and select Enroll now. The device must run 22H2 with the latest updates, and you need an administrator Microsoft account.
  • Not eligible: devices in kiosk mode, and devices joined to Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID or managed by MDM.
  • Organizations buy ESU in yearly terms that end 2026-10-13, 2027-10-12 and 2028-10-10.

Recent updates for 22H2 and 21H2 LTSC

Every cumulative update since 22H2 reached end of support, with the build it produces on 22H2. 21H2 LTSC receives the same KB with a 19044 build number. Patch Tuesday is the second Tuesday of the month; the next is 2026-10-13.

22H22022 Update, build 19045, released 2022-10-18

Codename 22H2. Update path: Enablement package on top of 20H2, 21H1 and 21H2.

  • Microsoft calls 22H2 the final version of Windows 10.
  • A small update that focuses on quality, security and performance rather than new features.
  • It is the only version that can enroll in the ESU program.

Support ended 2025-10-14 for all editions. Security updates continue only through ESU: consumer PCs through 2027-10-12, and organizations through 2026-10-13, 2027-10-12 or 2028-10-10 depending on the ESU year they buy.

Windows 10 22H2 ISO on Windowstan

21H2November 2021 Update, build 19044, released 2021-11-16

Codename 21H2. Update path: Enablement package on top of 2004, 20H2 and 21H1.

  • WPA3 H2E support for stronger Wi-Fi security.
  • GPU compute in Windows Subsystem for Linux and in Azure IoT Edge for Linux on Windows.
  • Windows Hello for Business gets a simpler cloud trust deployment.

Home/Pro ended 2023-06-13 and Enterprise/Education ended 2024-06-11. Enterprise LTSC 2021 is supported until 2027-01-12 and IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 until 2032-01-13.

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 and IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 are built from this release. The last update for Home, Pro, Enterprise and Education was KB5039211, build 19044.4529, on 2024-06-11.

Windows 10 21H2 ISO on Windowstan

  • A cloud download option for Reset this PC.
  • You can rename virtual desktops, Cortana becomes a separate app, and Windows Hello PIN sign-in works in Safe Mode.

Codename 19H2. Update path: Enablement package on top of 1903.

  • A small update: 1903 devices get it as an enablement package with a single restart.
  • You can create calendar events from the taskbar clock flyout, and File Explorer search uses the Windows Search index.

Home/Pro ended 2021-05-11 and Enterprise/Education ended 2022-05-10.

Windows 10 1909 ISO on Windowstan

  • Windows Sandbox and a new Light theme.
  • Cortana and search are separated, and Windows Update can pause updates for up to 35 days.

  • Clipboard history (Win+V), Snip & Sketch and a dark theme for File Explorer.
  • The Your Phone app and a text size slider.
  • Microsoft paused the rollout in early October 2018 after reports of missing files and re-released it on 2018-11-13.

Home/Pro ended 2020-11-10 and Enterprise/Education ended 2021-05-11. Enterprise LTSC 2019 (and Windows Server 2019) is supported until 2029-01-09.

  • Windows 10 can be activated with a Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 product key.
  • Edge tab previews and more Cortana abilities.
  • Windows Update for Business is introduced for managed devices.

Support ended 2017-10-10 for all editions.

Windows 10 1511 ISO on Windowstan

1507Original release, build 10240, released 2015-07-29

Codename Threshold. Update path: Original release.

  • The Start menu returns, and Cortana, Microsoft Edge (the original EdgeHTML browser) and virtual desktops arrive.
  • Windows Hello sign-in, Continuum tablet mode and the Xbox app debut.
  • Windows 7 and 8.1 PCs could upgrade for free during the first year.

Support for Home/Pro and Enterprise/Education ended 2017-05-09. The Enterprise 2015 LTSB edition ended 2025-10-14.

Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTSB and IoT Enterprise 2015 LTSB are built from this release.

Find your version from a build number

Enter the number from winver or Settings, for example 19045.7727, or just a version such as 1909.

Type a build number such as 19045.7727, or a version such as 22H2.

How to check which version you have

  • Press Win+R, type winver and press Enter. The window shows the version and OS build.
  • Or open Settings, System, About and look under Windows specifications.
  • In Command Prompt, ver prints something like Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19045.7727]. The five digits after 10.0. are the build, and the number after the dot is the revision.

In PowerShell, this prints the version, build and revision in one line:

DisplayVersion exists on 20H2 and later. On 1909 and earlier, read ReleaseId instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is Windows 10 still supported?

Not for Home, Pro, Enterprise or Education. Support for 22H2, the last version, ended on 2025-10-14. Security updates still arrive for PCs enrolled in Extended Security Updates and for the long-term servicing editions (Enterprise LTSB 2016, LTSC 2019, LTSC 2021 and IoT Enterprise).

What is the latest Windows 10 version?

22H2, build 19045. Microsoft calls it the final version of Windows 10. Builds after 22H2 keep the 19045 number and only the revision after the dot changes, for example 19045.7727.

Can I still download Windows 10?

Yes. Microsoft's Download Windows 10 page is still online and offers the Media Creation Tool and an ISO. Older versions such as 1507 to 21H2 are not offered there; Windowstan's per-version pages cover those.

What is an enablement package?

A very small update that switches on features already included in a newer version. 1909, 20H2, 21H1, 21H2 and 22H2 all arrived this way, so moving between them takes one restart.

What is the difference between LTSB and LTSC?

They are the same idea. LTSB (Long-Term Servicing Branch) was renamed LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel) with the 2019 release. Both skip feature updates and follow a fixed lifecycle.

Do all editions share the same build number?

Yes. Home, Pro, Enterprise and Education of one version use the same build number, such as 19045. The revision after the dot rises with each cumulative update.
